Overview: Acoustic Ullage Testing System
The
acoustic ullage test is based on sound. A recording of internal sounds
are made from within the tank before pressure\vacuum is applied. Then
while under pressure\vacuum a second recording is made and compared
with the first recording. If a leak is present a difference in sound
will be noticed and recorded. This is also confirmed with loss of pressure\vacuum.
All drain lines and pump out lines are tested at the same time as the
tank. This process is fast , accurate, and can easily be converted to
a leak pinpointing system. This system is ULC listed in Canada as a
precision leak test as well as certified under the EPA third party protocol
in the United States.

The
acoustic ullage testing system was designed and developed to provide
safe and reliable non-volumetric precision leak tests of ullage spaces
(empty top portion). This method is not a pneumatic test. It is a precision
leak test which finds leaks based on audible sounds. The test can be
performed with either vacuum or pressure (using an inert gas). This
method is intended to be used to test volumes up to 60 000 litres.
